2. Principle

BAMA is a local desktop application. The provider does not have access to the data entered in BAMA. The app uses no user accounts, advertising, tracking, analytics services, or separate cloud or backend services.

3. Data processed

Depending on use, BAMA processes locally names, email addresses, study programs, notes, information about bachelor’s and master’s theses, deadlines, tasks, priorities, milestones, supervision records, evaluations, and the file names and contents of manually opened EML or MSG files.

Email files are read only locally. BAMA does not connect to an email account or mail server.

4. Purpose and user responsibility

The processing supports the organization and documentation of thesis supervision. Users, or their university or organization, are responsible for the legality of any personal data they enter, appropriate access rights, retention periods, and information duties toward students. Because the app provider has no access to this data, the provider is not a processor.

5. Storage locations

Structured app data is stored in a local SQLite database in the operating system's Application Support directory. Documents are stored in the main document folder chosen by the user. Backups are created only on explicit request in a user-selected folder.

6. Cloud folders and third parties

If a folder from a synchronization service such as OneDrive, iCloud Drive, or Dropbox is chosen, transfer is performed by that service under its own terms. BAMA does not transfer the data to the provider itself. Users are responsible for selecting and configuring such a service.

7. Deletion and retention

Entries can be deleted in the app. For safety reasons, BAMA does not delete externally stored document folders or manually created database backups. Users must delete those themselves if needed. Local app data remains until it is deleted in the app or from the associated application data.

8. Data security

Data protection depends in particular on the user account, device encryption, file system permissions, backups, and any cloud service that may be used. Devices should be protected with a password and current security updates.

9. Data subject rights

Requests for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection regarding data managed by a teacher or institution in BAMA should be directed to that teacher or institution. The app provider cannot access this locally stored data. Complaints may be addressed to the competent data protection authority.

10. App Store and license terms

When obtaining the app through Apple, Apple’s terms and the Apple Standard End User License Agreement apply in addition.
